Upgrading to FC4 from FC3
 

Why doesn't FC4 make changes to yum.conf, redhat network update settings
when it upgrades.

Your configuration files should not be altered in an upgrade of the OS. Put it this way, upgrading your OS dosn't change your hardware, nor the policies of the system, and if the upgrade installed new config files, such as the ones you've mentioned you would find a real mess. Imagine if your security config files were overwritten with a generic file, you'd be idmediately vulnerable. Kurt

Also, those files usually have $releasever, etc., variables in their repository settings so they should change dynamically when your system changes.

What did you have in /etc/yum.repos.d/ that failed to work properly after the upgrade? The only one I've had a problem with was "newrpms," which is somewhat redundent to the other repos I usually reference, so I just disabled it.
