Updating Kernel

I was reading a article on Fedoraproject, Thomas Chung was explaining how not to update kernel
in yum if you didn't want new kernel
updated. By adding a line at the end
of /etc/yum.conf as such: exclude=kernel*

I have in my yum.conf:
exclude=kernel*
exclude=kmod-nvidia*

And yumex.conf:
exclude = kernel*
exclude = kmod-nvidia*

But when I do updates in Yumex it still wants to update kernel and kmod-nvidia.
What am I doing wrong ??

Make sure it's under main. Something like this:
Code:
[main]
exclude=kernel*
Then issue a:
Code:
yum clean all
See if that works.

Below is my yum.conf and yumex.conf and I did a yum clean all as root and it still doesn't make any difference.

Yum.conf

[main]
cachedir=/var/cache/yum
keepcache=0
debuglevel=2
logfile=/var/log/yum.log
exactarch=1
obsoletes=1
gpgcheck=1
plugins=1
metadata_expire=1800
exclude=kernel*
exclude=kmod-nvidia*
# PUT YOUR REPOS HERE OR IN separate files named file.repo
# in /etc/yum.repos.d

Yumex.conf

[yumex]
autorefresh = 1
recentdays = 14
proxy =
debug = 0
color_install = darkgreen
color_update = red
color_normal = black
color_obsolete = blue
filelist = 0
changelog = 0
plugins = 1
usecache = 0
fullobsoletion = 0
yumdebuglevel = 2
exclude = kernel*
exclude = kmod-nvidia*
