I'm interested in updating my FC4 2.6.11 to .20 and I'm considering using kyum to do this.
My concerns are:
- I read somewhere that you have to d/l every-other release, [.13, .15, .17 etc], in order to maintain stability. Is this true or ?

- Since I've never done this before; I was wondering how the kernel is updated [compiled] while using kyum? Is a temp file created and then the user is asked to re-boot..?

- Since FC4 is no longer supported I was debating whether to jump up to core 5 or 6. However I've heard of stability issues with 6 and FC4 has been very stable. Any thoughts or suggestions?

You should really consider updating to at least FC5, upgrading the kernel to 2.6.20 is a bit more then you expect. You also need to update things which are not part of the available updates, like udev and dbus for example.

Or wait until the CentOS, Scientific Linux or any other of the freely available 100% binary "clones" of RHEL5 are released (shortly). In fact SL has a preview live CD/DVD's available now;
