Up2date on Fedora Core 1?

I just did a fresh install of FC1 and when i log in as user and see that icon that has a blue check, I run the up2date wizard to update my packages or whatever it updates and it just freezes...I am not sure if its doing its thing or what but I see no status bar running of any sort. Is it recommended that I do this "up2date" utility? I tried to install flash but received an error using YUM thinking that maybe my system was needed an update.

Also - do I need to run this up2date utilty as root as well as user or can I just do it as a the user account?

Thanks for any info.

Up2Date is probably freezing because you are using the default Redhat servers which are known to be extremely slow due to traffic. Try to configure up2date or yum to use a mirror close to you.

It's easier for me to reference this http://fedoranews.org/tchung/howto/2...-yum-404.shtml

You can find your mirror here: http://fedora.redhat.com/download/mirrors.html

Good luck!
