up2date not working

i can't manage to update my system using up2date.
the system hangs for hours fetching packages but
nothing happens. i'm wrong or what else?

Sounds like your up2date is pointed to a bad repository, or one that is too slow or unresponsive. You can check /var/log/up2date and see what it's doing (or not doing). You can go to /etc/sysconfig/rhn/sources and change the path to another location so you can download from another source. You may also want to try running up2date-config and see what that does for you. You can visit www.fedora.us and click on Mirrors to see a list of available repositories you can connect with and maybe choose one that is more responsive.

in the meantime i've noticed also that, even if i've created my account on the rhn site, it doesn't ask me for my system registration? are these issues linked?

Sorry, I don't really know. I registered with RHN a long time ago and haven't checked my account there in a while. But I do remember hearing some stories that when FC1 launched last year there were some problems with RHN. Don't know if those ever got fixed or not.
