Unable to start Youtube

Hi folks,

Fedora 12
Totem Movie Player 2.26.5
Firefox 3.5.5

Just finished installing a new PC. Youtube fails to start with following warning;
Code:

Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player.
Properties -> Contents
[check] Enable JavaScript
[check] Enable Java

Installed Adobe Flash player as instructed. But it still fails.

Please advise how to fix the problem. TIA

Silly question but did you restart firefox after installing abobe's flash player?

Also, my not so accepted method is to download tar.gz from adobe's site (x86 or x86_64), extract and copy the libflashplayer.so to /usr/lib[64]/mozilla/plugins and then to restart the firefox.

Yes I did twice. The package was automatically installed. The second time it popup software installed already.

I'm running 64-bit version here. I can install 64-bit Fedora 12. But considering that some package may not have 64-bit version I gave up. Besides this new PC will be used as Virtual Machine running KVM

Do you have any other package for flash play? I heard if swfdec(?), gnash webplugin and adobe flashplayer are together they conflict.

swfdec and gnash are not installed. Then it must be ok wrt issue with any conflicts.

You may confirm if libflashplayer.so is present in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/ (or /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins for 64bit). Also, if you have gone through fedora wiki have you checked "about:plugins" page in firefox? It should state 'yes' for options under 'Shockwave Flash' section.

I'm sorry I know only to check this much.

Hi folks,

Problem solved after performing following steps;
Code:

# su -
# yum install flash-plugin nspluginwrapper.{i386,x86_64} pulseaudio-libs.i386 alsa-plugins-pulseaudio.i386 libcurl.i386

But now I found another problem, sound. I'll start a new posting.

Thanks again for your assistance

Get rid of the part which says "pulseaudio-libs.i386 alsa-plugins-pulseaudio.i386" as using it will mute the sound!

That should solve everything if you have Adobe Flash Player downloaded and installed beforehand.

PS MUST restart the system after completing the installation of Adobe Flashplayer, otherwise, it still won't work! Reloading the site which needed plugins installed will not help.
