Angry unable to run tvtime in FC3

when tried to run tvtime the following error message comes on fedora3. my system has the saa7134 tuner and s3 unichrome graphics card.

Running tvtime 0.9.13.
Reading configuration from /etc/tvtime/tvtime.xml
Reading configuration from /root/.tvtime/tvtime.xml
xvoutput: No XVIDEO port found which supports YUY2 images.

*** tvtime requires hardware YUY2 overlay support from your video card
*** driver. If you are using an older NVIDIA card (TNT2), then
*** this capability is only available with their binary drivers.
*** For some ATI cards, this feature may be found in the experimental
*** If unsure, please check with your distribution to see if your
*** X driver supports hardware overlay surfaces.

thanks,ganni123@yahoo.co.in

The problem is with your graphics card, not your TV card.

TvTime uses overlays to display the picture on the screen and most of the default xorg drivers don't offer this. You will have to find out what graphics card you have and install the proper drive, if there is one.

The site below seems to provide some drives but i'm guessing they don't allow yuy2 overlays
http://unichrome.sourceforge.net/

If you can't find one then you can always use xawtv which doesn't requre this or play around with mplayer.

Ok the sound problem is something to do with the video capture card.

I'll list the simple things to check first (probably isn't these though).
You have the right television format eg. PAL-I is uk PAL D/K is Czech ....
Try switching between mono and stereo and any other options.

Have you checked you have the audio chip module loaded? lsmod lists loaded modules. most cards use the msp3400 just type modprobe msp3400 and see if it solves the problem.

if none of that works post back what tv standard is used in your country, the actual make and model of your tv card, and your current kernel version (you should be using later than 2.6.10 for your tv card to work correctly)
