Unable to mount ntfs partition with new kernal. (FC2)

I just updated the kernal to 2.6.1-1.12 from 2.6.6-1.435 and now when it boots it fails to mount my ntfs partition (i had previously setup) saying it is a filesystem it doesn't recognise. Why?
Thanks in advance

how did you "update" the kernel? if you didnt import the old kernel config then i would suggest that the ntfs module isnt a default config option and therefore wouldnt be compiled in. have a look.

then you'll need to either compile in or install the ntfs module.
