Hi,

I installed the Fedora Core 4 on an older type of the HP Vectra PC.

The installation went ok, but when I want to login in the GNOME or KDE environment, the input bar does not represent any characters.
I am not able to give some input

So the input is not visable on the screen, and the screen it self flickers when input is given in.

When I use the numlock option, the bar presents the * / + - signs and some numbers.

When I try another keyboard, the problem is the same

I can also not log in via console-mode

So at this moment the environment is completely useless.

Does anybody know what it can be ???

Try another keyboard.
I think the problem is FC4 doesn't support your keyboard.

Like I said in the initial post.

After changing the keyboard the problem remains the same .

Any ideas ??

Open another virtual console, login as root.
Kill GDM and restart it.
