Unable to install Fedora

I have a Sony PCG-FX120 on which I'm currently trying to install Fedora. Red Hat 9.0 was installed recently and I had no real major issues with its installation. Fedora however freezes shortly after begining the install immediately after passing the following line:

ACPI: Subsystem revision 20040816

I thought the CD was corrupt but I was able to install Fedora on a desktop box using the same CD. I'm thinking that it may be the BIOS and perhaps by updating it, if something is available, the install will work. My second theory is that there is some hardware conflict. Anyway, any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated as I am somewhat new to Linux.

EDIT: I just ran dmesg on the functioning Fedora box and after analyzing the log i saw the same line in regards to ACPI. The line immediately after it in the log was:

ACPI: Interpreter disabled

I'm going into the BIOS now to see if changing some of the ACPI settings will work prior to updating the BIOS

In the boot prompt that appears, hit F2 or F3 to see the options.
In the options, there could be some arguments like "noacpi"
Try passing those optons while booting.
Ex:
boot: linux noacpi

I checked the boot options and there is no noapci option but rather noprobe which is supposed to disable PCI autoprobing. Anyway, it didn't work. I have yet to upgrade the BIOS but I think I'm going to give Mandrake and see if i have any luck with that. I would like to try and spend more time figuring out what the issue is but I really to get linux up and running on this laptop. Thanks for the advice
