Unable to create working iso dist CD's help?

Hi I'm looking for some help with the Fedora Core 4 i386 and x86_64 distributions. I've downloaded the iso's and burned them to CD 3 times and while they boot ok, they fail the media check. I never get any errors during the download or the burning.

If I try and install using them, they have problems reading at one point or another.

The x86_64 dist also doesn't always boot with my laptop.

I'm kind of stumped at the moment, I burn other iso images with no problem.

Any ideas or pointers?

-Ira

It's difficult to guess what exact source of your problem may be, but I had a similar problem in the past. In my case it turned out to be a problem with a CD-ROM in the computer I was trying to install Linux on. It would work for some distros, but not others. Specifically I could not install Mandrake nor Fedora. After replacing CD-ROM the problem went away.

Hmmm

Well I've tried two different machines to make the CD's now. I'm using the iso tool for windows to create the CD's.

The images should be ok as long as there were no errors downloading them right?

fedora 4 bug

it is just a bug with fedora 4. I would at least check the sums of the files you downloaded, but they are probably allright.

Got it from the installation help posted by Spooon. Booting with

linux ide=nodma

corrects the media check problem/bug.
