Unable to change default disply mode in FC 6

Hi,
It seems I am unable to set a resolution of '800 X 600" millions of colors in FC 6. I am able to do this in all previous versions of Fedora Core. In fact I have FC5 installed in the same machine at this resolution.Only resolution setting for FC6 is "1074 x 768" in which the whole desktop and icons and windows are small.
On changing the settings to "800 X 600" the resolution doesn,t change even after rebooting, it remains "1074 x 768" . How can I change resolution to " 800 X 600" ? Please help !!!

As root from runlevel 3 (init 3) try typing something like;

Code:
system-config-display --reconfig --set-depth 16 --set-resolution=800x600

I also went through that problem, so I just added my prefer resolution to the xorg.conf and removed the 800x600

Hi RobNyc,
As you suggested editing xorg.conf file and removing unwanted resolution setting worked for me. Thanks.
