unable to begin install of Fedora 8

I'm trying to install Fedora 8 but it hangs right after I select the option to install at the boot screen. It says it's loading vmlinuz inittrid=inittrid.img(sp?), then "Ready", then nothing. it just hangs at that.

Now I do have a 250GB SATA drive. Would that be causing problems? Do I need to add an argument for SATA support before starting install?

I have Fedora Core 7 installed and that installs wonderfully. Any ideas?

I had this problem a few times during my FC8 install. My problem turned out to be a bad disc burn. I was using the Live CD at the time, and had to burn a second copy to get it to work. I had the same issue later on with a DVD-RW; I had to use a DVD-R.

If you can, I would try that first.

I think the first thing to check is the media you are trying to install from.

Thanks for the tips guys! I'm using a DVD-R to install with. I burned a second copy just to be sure and I got the same result with it as well. Both copies passed the checksum in the burn process in K3B.
