Uh-oh! New kernel, kmod-nvidia no scrrens?
This AM, 1/19/07 new 686 kernel from updates. Also new kmod-nvidia from livna. OK, we'll do that. Uh-uh. X won't start, "No screens found". Had to fall back to the nv driver to even post on here. :)
Anybody else seeing this, is there a solution? Thanks, Ray |
Don't say that! I'm updating now. Hope I can find my way back to this thread to let you know how it goes.

Same thing here, I have a GeForce4 MX 440 AGP8X, no longer supported by the current nVIDIA drivers(97XX). check at the end of /var/log/Xorg.0.log to see if it's your case too. I had to install NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9631-pkg1.run from nVidia site. Regards |
LOL!
I have Nvidia gforce 6800, had all kinds of problems with two previous versions of kmod-nvidia and could not even install package.run from nvidia site. But yesterday I upgraded to 2.6.19-1.2895.fc6.x86_64 and issued command: yum install kmod-nvidia It installed the new kmod and X11 .drv, for the first time everything is PERFECT. NOTE: I did not do this on top of previous kmod that upset menu items in root account, I have a compressed image of Fedora without any kmod-nvidia installed and tested it there, then made another image which is the copy I'm using now. Completely the opposite story compared to all of you. |
Yes, this turns out to be my OLD GForce card, no longer supported by nvidia. Thankfully, it's not really a problem, the 96xx stuff works great.
xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-96xx-1.0.9631-5.lvn6 kmod-nvidia-96xx-1.0.9631-4.2.6.19_1.2895.fc6 |
Thanks Posterboy! That worked for me too. What exactly did we install?
Do you think yum --enablerepo=livna update kmod-nvidia-96xx will work after the next kernal update? Steve |
