Two machines both updated to different levels

Hi,

I'm after a bit of help with my 2 x FC 16 machines.

They were both running slightly different releases (i'd updated 1 of them a month ago but not the other) so i have updated them both this morning in an attempt to get them both running the same level/kernel etc.

Machine 1,

uname -r
3.2.6-3.fc16.x86_64

yum list kernel
Installed Packages
kernel.x86_64 3.1.0-7.fc16 @anaconda-0
kernel.x86_64 3.1.9-1.fc16 @updates
kernel.x86_64 3.2.6-3.fc16 @updates

Machine 2,

uname -r
3.2.2-1.fc16.x86_64

yum list kernel
Installed Packages
kernel.x86_64 3.1.0-7.fc16 @anaconda-0
kernel.x86_64 3.2.2-1.fc16 @updates

I thought if i did a yum update on both machines they would end up running the same level but I must have been mistaken. Can anyone advise what i need to do to get both machines up at the same kernel release?

Both machines are currently saying there is nothing to update if i try again.

Thanks!

Hi -=Graz=-,

Compare the yum.conf file and repos.d file of both the machines. It appears that the difference is between the source they are referring to.

Hi T3RM1NVT0R,

I did a diff on /etc/yum.conf & /etc/yum.repos.d/fedora.repo , ../fedora-updates.repo , ../fedora-updates-testing.repo and they are the same.

Are there any other conf files i should know about?

I notice both machines are using a different mirror for the updates

* fedora: mirror.as24220.net
* updates: mirror.optus.net

* fedora: mirror.as24220.net
* updates: ftp.wicks.co.nz

I'm using the fastestmirror pluging so i tried 'yum --disableplugin=fastestmirror update' , which didn't do the trick.

Cheers,
G

After disabling fastest mirror pluging did you run yum clean all? If not then run it and then give it a try.
