Trying to print a selection from Firefox or Thunderbird
I just upgraded to FC 5 and quite a few things that worked in FC 4 now don't work. While browsing with Firefox v1.5.0.8 we cannot print a selected part of a page. When we try and print the selection it prints the header/footer and nothing else. We cannot even print a selection from Thunderbird as the selection option in the printer dialog box is greyed out. We are using CUPS and an HP 812C. Any ideas?

Well, you could prove out the print driver by trying to print to a postscript file, then looking at the output in ghostscript.
Are you having problems printing from any other program?
My gut says that the trouble lies in the printing system in Firefox/Thunderbird. If you can replicate the problem with a postscript file, I would mosey over to bugzilla for Firefox. I poked around in the Firefox bugzilla database and didn't see anything.

Working again
Thanks for the advice. I tried it and found that it printed fine to a file. When I tried printing a selection again it worked. Don't know what fixed it, but glad it is working again.

This is simply because I work in tech support for a living. I have no idea how I fix things; I ask an educated question and whatever it is starts working again. Granted, I have no idea what I did or if it will work in 5 minutes.
