Trying to deal with .config/user-dirs.dirs

Hope I spelled that correctly.
I have lost the Pictures, Templates, and Public directories out of the left panel in Files.
I have tried first capitalizing the directories in files then in the .config/*.dirs file and rebooting and doing so in reverse. But can't get those names in the dash (left) panel to work to bring up those 3 directories but have done sow with others.
Currently I have none of those 3 in the dash.
I get peculiar responses where that *.dirs file will leave my edits shown after a reboot and at other times not.
1) is there a limit to the number of names in the dash?
2) what is the proper way to change the directory names as what I have tried only works SOMETIMES?
3) is there a reference for this activity?

what dash is that? unity?
what's it look like in the file manager?

please tell us the name of the file manager or similar afflicted application.
preferably a screenshot of what is wrong?

please paste the contents of
Code:

~/.config/user-dirs.dirs
and please paste the output of
Code:

ls $HOME
edit:
meanwhile you can also read
Code:

man xdg-user-dirs-update

We should be looking at Gnome in Fedora 22.
The dashplate aka index to Files (that's what it is called) is a list od directories from which one can select to have expanded.
Not sure where I would find a file manager in Unix/Linux that is new to me after 20 years. Unless U mean ls?
In "Files" U will also see Pictures, Templates and Public directories in addition to HOME et. al.
~/.config/user-dirs.dirs is under home so U should be able to find it there.
