Thunderbird Problems - Please help

Setup new thunderbird-60.2.1-2.fc27.x86_64 on Fedora-27.

Setup new email server, go in to thunderbird and setup for new email Server , type in my email address and password thunderbird goes out gets Email Server and set it up in thunderbird then goes into a different window were I have to click "Done" and thunderbird gives me a error message, Configuration could not be verified, that my username or password is invalid.

Thunderbird just went and got the Comcast server setup settings and installed it into Thunderbird, where I had used my email address and password for it to get the Comcast Server setup and setup in thunderbird, when I click on Done in thunderbird it tells me my email address and password is invalid .

I can log into xfinity.com with my Password and get my email.

Boy I;m baffeled , I have called Comcast to fix the problem, I'm convinced something is wrong with thunderbird.

I did find the following article and assume it is still valid. Check your Thunderbird settings.

What thunderbird settings are you refering to ?

Comcast server settings in thunderbird are correct, I have verified that with Comcast.

Probably these
Those instructions specifically say you need to do "Manual Setup"...have you done what that page says?

It was not obvious that you had verified the server settings with Comcast. Just to verify the port and encryption settings were configured correctly.

While I use Thunderbird I don't have Comcast so specific help is limited.

I'm having major problems with comcast.net for Email and using Thunderbird, they change their incomin Server to the Imap format and I cannot connect, is there any problems with Imap and Thunderbird, My username and password is valid, and I can use Chrome and go online and login to Comcast email and get my emails, but I want to use Thunderbird because it's more flexible.

Does anyone know of a Help site for Thunderbird, I went to mozilla.org but can't find any help there, I was told that Mozilla.org would be help site for Thunderbird.

About Help in the Thunderbird menu will connect you to Thunderbird help

I use Thunderbird IMAP to my server, Cox, Gmail and AOL with no problems. I have no issues with IMAP using Thunderbird.

You just need to folllow Comcast’s instructions at the link already posted. Have you followed those directions? They seem complete.

The issue is probably not with Thunderbird.

I talk with Comcast Help six different times and Comcast they say it's a problem with Thunderbird. Thunderbird is setup the way it should be, says Comcast.

How did you install Thunderbird? Maybe it's borked.
Maybe uninstall and re-install from the repos?

PS...you still haven't confirmed that you've followed the linked instructions to the letter. Have you?

PPS I'd be more suspicious of the help desk than the software...but that's just me.

Thunderbird was installed from the fedora repo.

As for the Comcast settings I went over it with the Comcast people on phone.

I totally agree with you on the help desk, but when they get it in their head that Thunderbird is at fault and not their side how can i argue with them, that why I come to Linuxquestions.org to hopefully get some good answers.

If I can get a couple of peoples that are using Thunderbird on Comcast mail, I can
go back to Comcast help desk and argue the point with them from a stronger position.
If I can get the other Thunderbird users tell me their incoming and outgoing Server Comcast settings then I got a better position to put my point across to Comcast.

I have upgraded to Fedora-28 and Thunderbird-60.3.1-1.fc28.x86_64
