syntax highlighting/color FC4/vi
have 2 little questions:

1) how can I enable syntax highlighting in FC4?
seems in FC3 itīs default, but /etc/vimrc are the same!?

2) when editing a file with vi I canīt see the row number at the bottom
how to enable this feature?

no ideas?
just compared /etc/DIR_COLORS.xterm in FC3 vs. FC4: both the same!
both machines are at runlevel 3, connected via ssh....
BUT on FC4 I have no syntax enabled in vi!!!

I don't know if this is your problem, but I just installed FC4, and for me vi and vim are different. VI loads a very plain VI editor -- I would be extremely surprised if this was the true original VI (the one in use today really is VIM).

Try command vim instead of vi to edit files, vim stands for VI I(m)proved. I've done actually alias vi='vim' to enforce that for my user account. When running vim instead of vi I get all of the proper features.
