suspend power option hangs up my system

When I try the following option:

Code:

system--->suspend
the computer monitor goes off and my keyboard also gets inactive. The CPU power button light blinks as it would do when I use standby option of windows XP home edition.

I have to cut off the power abrubtly to boot the system again. I don't understand that option. How should I bring back my suspended system?

Please help!

I take it you are using Fedora Core 5. You may wish to consider an upgrade to Fedora Core 6 which I believe has far superior resume/suspend support. I have found troubleshooting these issues difficult in the past and the situation is slowly improving with each new kernel release. Make sure you are running the latest. You may also wish to try running a kernel with suspend2 patches compiled in such as those from ATrpms.net

But before I upgrade is there any option to turn off that 'suspend' feature?Sometimes my system goes to suspend mode automatically when I press a key key and it doesnt wake up even after hitting keys on the keyboard and moving the mouse. It must be a bug and each time this happens I have to reset my computer. I even checked if there is any keyboard shortcut for suspend. There is no short cut.

Please help!

It will be under preferences for power management - try alternate clicking on the power icon. You may also want to disable power management in the BIOS.

I tried to disable it but was not able to. In the BIOS setup there is one option called power.

There was only one option.
Quote:

After AC power failiure [stay off]
The other options that could be used for stay off were restart and auto.

I have set the preferences in power management so that the pc doesn't go to sleep if it is unattended.

How to disable power option in bios settings. Can you please help!

If you do not see power management options in the BIOS then it is possible your system does not support it. I would wait until FC6 arrives and try it then.
