Step by step kernel compile for fedora core 3

I am having problems reading greek filenames under fat partitions ( in fact i've opened up a thread here http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...5&pagenumber=1 )
I need to recompile my kernel to fix it (i think @ least!)
Can anyone assist me on the steps 2 compile the kernel??? Any guides would be highly appreciated too!!

Thanx!

please read the kernel howto at tldp.org for details on how to compile a kernel.it is a very standard procedure, so worth readnig a standard officail document that is readily available to you, rather than request someone to write specifically for you.

try putting
iocharset=iso8859-7, codepage=737
in the fstab entry of yr fat partition, or maybe 869.

or better use utf8.

go to www.linux.gr for details

or search the net.

I'm not writing in greek to u since it's a public forum. I also have fendora 2 and the window managers recognize greek (NTFS). You must have utf8 support if you haven't recompiled the kernet. In the terminals try to use unicode fonts, i haven't tried it yet.
Wait!!!
In the instalation I added Greek language support, be i use US as default language.

in the terminal use some unicode font

I had no problem in fc2 with greek filenames! The problem happens on fc3 !

PS If you wanna write to me in greek email me!

oops sorry.
I saw your distribution information and thought u were using fc2!
the topic is about fc3.
I don't know, haven't used fc3 yet.
