specify which programs to pre-link

so, im not sure exaclty how this works, but i heard that fedora does a trick where it has a specific set of apps that it will pre link all the librarys and function calls before the application loads to decrease the overhead when loading these programs. i think windows does this trick to for a specific set (word, excel, etc.)... but is there a way in fedora to specify which applications that are wanted to be pre linked?

Yes, the "/etc/prelink.conf" file has the configuration of the software to be prelinked. It pretty much contains all standard executables, with certain exceptions for known problems.

It means that the directory, /usr/X11R6/lib, is suffixed with either a null, or "64". In other words, it's a shorthand for the two entries:

-l /usr/X11R6/lib
-l /usr/X11R6/lib64
