I have been using Fedora Core since the first version and until the last few updates of FC3 (I do not remember how many) I have always been able to use a USB pen drive using the device sda1 (under FC3 the device was also recognized immedialty when plugged in the usb port).
But atfer the last updates FC3, the pen drive does not hotplug anymore and if I try to mount it manually I receive the error message:
# mount: special device /dev/sda1 does not exist
In fact, I have checked that the file sda1 does not exist anymore in my filesystem!
Any guess on how the updates can have caused this and how to fix the problem?
you just said the device doesnt exist. clearly it did or you would not have been able to mount it. did you wait long enough for the light to stop flashing before trying the mount command before?
