Sony Vaio PCG-NVR23 Booting FC2, hangs after "Enabling Swap Space"

I just loaded FC2 on my Sony Vaio. It finishes "Enabling Swap Space [ OK ]" but then freezes.

I've had this happen on my desktop and disabling USB usually allowed it to boot, not on this machine.

I've tried noacpi and nousb, but I can't get this thing to boot.

What is the next process to launch after enabling swap space?

Hello

On the system I'm on now, after "Adding Swap:" the next item is Linux agpgart interface v0.99

googling this shows it's a test program for data transfer features of agp cards.
