smp kernel wierdness

I'm running a 3Ghz HT (800Mhz FSB) P4 in a notebook and have been using SuSE 9.0 with the 2.4.23 kernel. Problem is that the fedora production kernel (2.4.22 smp) is not utilizing the "2nd " cpu. This is making the system run slower than it should and even slower than with the uniprocessor kernel as it's ignoring half the pipelines in smp mode. Any idea why it's only using "1" cpu? The same pc is a monster when it's cranking "both" cpus in SuSE.

Maybe you should try to upgrade your kernel to a 2.6.x variant. You can download one from kernel.org or you can get rpms from the fedora team from:

http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pu...6/Fedora/RPMS/
here is a mirror
