Set up Database for Mythtv

I want to install Mythtv... I have a tv tuner that has a built in mpeg2 encoder. I don't no what the database settings should be for MySQL. And since I installed the rpms, I didn't get a chance to run the backend. I believe i can run the backend by typing mythtv backend. But i don't no how to set up the database. Any help is appreciated. This looks as though it should be easy.

When i issue 'mysql -u root mysql' or issue 'mysql -u root mysql' , i get the error: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) . And if I type in mythtv from the commandline, all that happens is this:

[root@localhost ~]# mythtv
2005-06-08 08:10:32.726 New DB connection, total
: 1.
IS this normal... this is becoming frustrating (the fact that all i want to do is WATCH TV!! lol
