I'm switching to Fedora Core 4 from (K)ubuntu. I'm just feeling left out w/ the lack of ease of use of installinf rpm files.
I have a few questions.
How do I install rpm files? I'm used to using k/synaptic or apt-get.
How do I convert deb to rpm? Cedega is the only file i need to do this to, I'm used to alien.
How do I set up wireless? I have an HP Pavilion ze4800. I found these directions *below* but I have no idea what to do in Fedora.
mkdir wlan
unzip windriver.exe -d /home/user/wlan
ndisrwapper -i filename.inf
modprobe ndiswrapper
echo ndiswrapper >> /etc/modules-2.6.XXXXX
update-modules
iwlist wlan0 scan
iwconfig wlan0 essid youressid key yourkey
How do I get rid of the Most Used Applications list?
And lastly.. Is there any guide similar to ubuntuguide.org?
apt-get / synaptic works for RPMS too. go install. and you really don't want to be going between debs and rpms if you really don't have to.. what have you got that's only in deb format?
I have cedega in a deb format. I would go sign up and download the rpm, but I'm flat ass broke. I'm gonna look around on my old system and see if I can find the rpm ne where.
I tried to run synaptic/kynaptic and run the apt-get command
but none of them were found. I tried to make a change in the kde section of Add Remove Packages, but it bitched at me for not having metacity and a load of other shit.
Right now, I just want to be able to work in an enviroment that i'm used to.
that web site doesn't seem to work.
i searched google for the site, and clicked http://www.atrpms.org but it says the page is unavailable. Would you be willing to tell me the right site if this one is wrong, or a link within the site so I can find some way into it?
