Screen with multicolored vertical lines / Refresh rate very low

Hi all Fedora Lovers,
Despite many tries, I managed to install FC4. I often get screen crash/ refresh kind of problem i.e I couldn't continue installation as I can't see anything readable more coz of some multicolored vertical line used to come in between the installation when it asks for new username, welcome window, Disclaimer etc., Somehow I managed to enter all those informations and continue logging in. But the monitor/screen resolution was too annoying that I could not see any text within the terminal or message box unless I moved my mouse cursor to the place I need to read that to not clearly. I donno wot's wrong with my configuration. I even tried modifying the screen refresh rate using the utility available in 'preference->screen resolution', I set it as 800x600 tried 55Hz to 80 Hz. But it's worthless, the problem still exists. Just before fell in love with FC, this resolution/refresh rate problem used to annoy me a lot which even refrain me using lovable FC4.

thanks in advance,
Sukumar

Hi,
Thanks for your suggestion. I resolved my problem. After long hours investigating, I tweaked
the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf where I modified DefaultDepth to 16 which was
earlier 24 that my monitor couldn't support. But FC recognizes my monitor model, vendor,
resolution(max), refresh rate, etc., but it went wrong on the value of "DefaultDepth". I suppose
that value is for number of colors supported like 'thousands of colors' or 'millions of colors'. Am I right?

I'm happy and proud that I resolved my problem.

Thanks for your support!
