screen saver not locking for root

Hi,
I have posted a similar question before and didn't get answer.
When I log in as root, the screen saver (or lockscreen function in GUI) does not lock with password. The password protected screen saver works fine with normal user, but with root, it is just not procted for root. It is the same for FC5 and FC6 (don't know others). It seems a feature, not a problem - as I answered my own previous question. But why? I would guess the root window needs more protection. Any explaination or fix?

On many distros you can't log into a GUI as root because its regarded as bad practice. Some distros will let you do login to a GUI as root, but cripple many features as a reminder that you should be only using the root account for system administration.
