I have a 160gig SATA WD drive and wish to use it as a data drive.
I have WINXP on a 160 gig IDE and linux on a 60gig IDE. I would like to install the SATA and use it as a data drive for linux or a bridge between the two via a fat32 FS.
My problem.
When I install the drive FC1 sees it and the correct chipset for the SATA controller, but says it can't access the drive bios, so hde is not accessible.
If it's referencing the drive as hde, then you are using one of the older 2.6 kernels. In all the newer 2.6 kernels, sata drives are listed as scsi drives(sda). There were numerous updates to the 2.6 kernel sata modules since your kernel. You probably need to upgrade your kernel.
