sane/xsane printing problem on Fedora 3

I recently installed FC3 after using RH9 happily for quite a while (What am I getting myself into?).

My latest problem is as follows -

when using xsane to copy a document, the scan completes and proceeds to print to my Laserjet. As far as I can tell the document prints fine, but, the system always reports that the print job is "aborted". I experimented with every other program that I use (OpenOffice, gThumb, GIMP, lpr, lp, gv, etc) and there were no problems. Only sane/xsane gives the "abort" message. The exact message in a dialog box is - Printing of "(stdin)" on printer "HP_Laserjet_5MP" was aborted. The same aborted status is displayed in CUPS.

Has anyone come across this or a similar problem? Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Stephen

If I can understand your statement better, you are saying that the scan prints fine after being scanned, yet you are still receiving the error message from sane saying that the job was aborted, correct??

Thank you for any clarification you may be able to provide.

Yes, that's correct. As far as I can tell visually, the printouts seem OK. I've tried using lp instead of lpr in the config and got the same problem. It does not happen with any other program in the system (I've tried many!!!)

Regards.
