samba won't start in new fedora install

I've recently installed Fedora FC4 and am having trouble getting Samba to work. The error message I get when I try to start the smb service is:
starting SMB services: [FAILED]
starting NMB services: [ OK]

Now, when I check /var/log/samba/smbd.log I find the following error:

Failed to open /etc/samba/secrets.tbd

This secrets.tbd file appears to exist in the /etc/samba directory. So if anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate them.

Simon

Did you start samba as root user ?

Do from a console (terminal window)
$ su -
password:[rootpassword][Enter]

# /etc/init.d/smb stop
# /etc/init.d/smb start
