Question Samba Login Scripts for Fedora?

I'm trying to use winbind to allow students that have accounts on a Windows domain controller to login with their domain accounts to the Linux boxes. I have successfully set up Winbind to allow logins, but I'd like to set it up so that some sort of login script gets called so that when a user successfully logs in on a Linux box with their domain account, their H: drive is set up along with their printer.

The problem is that one has to be root to mount a samba drive from what I have seen. Does any one have a solution for this? I'd be open to ideas, too.

Thanks!

suid on smbmount

you can set the suid on smbmount and smbumount to do that.

chmod +s /usr/bin/smbmount
chmod +s /usr/bin/smbmount

Thanks for the tip.

Where do I put the login script that would use the SUID'd smbmount to connect? Just a .bashrc in all of the user's directories?

Gnome
you can add the scripts the sessions startup tab or you can
use the dirs you mentioned earlier.

To make an allusers to environment like windows, you could create /home/allusers and put scripts in there for all users. Then make modification to /etc/profile.d/.bashrc to look in there just as it does for the ~/.bashrc.
