Running Fedora from an SD Card... and Using it's Memory?

Hi, I plan to use an SD Card both my ASUS EEE PC and maybe my desktop. I have used Mint on my desktop from a USB memory, but do not know how to not trial it and lose documents and programs on shutdown. I want it to be my second hard drive. How is this done?

I have a Sandisk 4GB, SDHC Card.

I recommend a feature called "persistence." This formats your SD card so that documents, settings, and changes "persist" from boot to boot.

For Fedora you can do this with the program liveusb-creator. (I don't know how for Mint, sorry.)

You can actually install the Fedora LXDE spin to a 4GB SDHC card - just boot from the live CD and do a normal installation, selecting your SD card as the installation target. . Last time I did it, I used extlinux as the bootloader, which did entail some messing around. It boots fine on both my desktop PC and my netbook.
