Depending on how you built the binary rpm package9s0 from the source package it could be someplace in /usr/src/rehat/RPMS or ~/rpmbuild/redhat/RPMS, have a look around.

FYI: the last few lines from the output of rpmbuld will tell you where the binaries are.

If the rpmbuild failed then you will have nothing to install. Please show the rpmbuild command you used and the section(s) of the spec file you changed, a few lines above and/or below the change(s) is all that you need to post.

Looking over the php-5.1.4-8.src.rpm spec file I see no need to edit the spec file;

Code:
# Build /usr/bin/php-cgi with the CGI SAPI, and all the shared extensions
pushd build-cgi
build --enable-force-cgi-redirect \
      --enable-pcntl \
      --with-imap=shared --with-imap-ssl \
      --enable-mbstring=shared --enable-mbstr-enc-trans \
      --enable-mbregex \
      --with-ncurses=shared \
      --with-gd=shared \
      --enable-bcmath=shared \
      --enable-dba=shared --with-db4=%{_prefix} \
      --with-xmlrpc=shared \
      --with-ldap=shared \
      --with-mysql=shared,%{_prefix} \

I dont think it failed
when i try to
find / -name php*.rpm
it gives the result in that directory
but when i go there i see nothing

out of nothing i desperately tried to
install it with
rpm -ivh php*.rpm

voila it worked

but still i'm curious why the result didn't show up

and i'm using php-5.0.4-10
it came with linux i installed without-mysql on the spec
so i only edit the without mysql to with mysql
