rpm -e .. death of rpm tool

when I rpm -e some_package (e.g mc)
rpm removes it.

and does not exit.

after that if i run redhat-config-packages
it endlessly "processes headers"

I tried rpm --rebuilddb with no luck.

By the way -- is there something like drak-rpm -- a tool to list packages, show files and dependencies?

Also -- why mc that come with distro can not extraxt files from rpm files? it only shows sripts..

try rebuilding the database this way

1. Goto /var/lib/rpm
2. rm __db.*
3. rpm -i-nitdb
4. rpm --rebuilddb
5. donīt worry about error message in the end

I hope this solves your prob
