RPM dependency - libbz2.so.0 & librpm.so.0

Hi,

I am running Fedora Core 4, and trying to install a speciallised package that came with a hardware dev kit. Unfortunatly when run rpm -i <packagename> the result is failed dependencies libbz2.so.0 and librpm.so.0

From my googlings as far as i can tell the problem is that the versions of bzip2 and rpm i'm running are to new, and not backwards compatible. (bzip2-1.0.2-16 & rpm-4.4.1-21 are current installed versions)

The speciallised package is actually designed to run on Redhat 6.2, but it proved too difficult to run Redhat 6.2 on this machine (Toshiba Tecra A7)

Can anyone suggest how to resolve this? or even a completely different approach to setting up a system with RH6.2 compatabily?

Cheers
Dan.

Can you run a VMWare or Xen Virtual Machine install of RH 6.2 or is this hardware dev kit specific to a COM port, for example?

VMWare or Xen Virtual Machine is an interesting option. The dev kit is for a SBC running an embedded linux kernel. Writing/building for the SBC basically just requires access to the libraries inherent with the RH6.2 distro and X windows, Gnome , NFS server support, RPM and Reverse ARP (RARP).

The SBC is connected to the dev pc via ethernet utizilising RARP and NFS.. so aslong as those interfaces work via the virtual machine software..

Cheers.
