Root login on the GUI of FC11

I recently installed FC11 and I have noticed in a lot of Distros that Login as root is no longer allowed. While I support this as a way to keep a system secure it tends to be a bit of a pain whil the system is still being setup. I installed FC11 and afterward I installed a second HD. Now while in th SU mode in a terminal I followed the steps to installing a second HD and had no problems untill I need to copy files to it and was told I did not have permission. The data copy was done in the Gnome desktop, I was copying multiply files and Directories. I mad some adjustments to the GDM file as per another web page and it worked. I was able to login as root get what I needed to bet done and get out. Now I need to setup Samba to access the files I copied on my other desktop. But I guess during a update it filled in this security fix and I am no longer allowed to log in as Root. i prefer to work in a GUI environment and avoid the command line altogether. So how do I get my root Login back till I am done setting up this system, button it up and hide it under the desk again. I would like to be able to login as root in the Gnome desktop till I am done.

RObert

p.s.
I hate all the windows server flavours, but atleast I could logon as the Administrator, to bad the rest of it was a pain.

If the FC updates are liable to change your gdm config (if so, BTW, that is crap!) then here is a work-around you can use:

Log in as your regular user as normal.
Open a terminal window.
Use 'su' to become root.
Use the command 'init 3' to drop to normal multi-user mode.
Log in as root.
Start an X session using the command 'startx'
Do what you need to do.
End X session (or don't) and issue the command 'init 5'
Now you are back to your normal gdm login.
