Restrict wine app to single virtual desktop ?

Hi All,

I just installed Fedora Core 2 and am attempting to make the transition from Windows to Linux. The key application to making this work for me is Lotus Notes. I have gotten Note 6.5.1 working successfully under wine.

By default, you have four "virtual desktops" (is this what they are called ?) and you can run applications in each one and the application appears only in that one.

When I run Lotus Notes with Wine, it appears over all four virtual desktops. Is there a way of restricting it to only being on one ? The way I am starting it is by opening a shell on the desktop that I wanted it to go on, then running the command

wine "c:\program files\lotus\notes\nlnotes.exe"

Is there a way to restrict it to a single virtual desktop, as it is rather annoying the way it is currently working. Added to that it doesn't maximise/minimise/switch very well, which is why I want it on its own desktop, so that I can run just Notes on one desktop.

Thanks.

Easiest way to get Notes 6.5.1 running well is CrossOver Office. However, you can fix your problem with Wine by ensuring it's configured to use Managed mode, or by using Desktop mode. Both of these are documented in the config file ~/.wine/config

That fixed it. Thanks
I trieg doing a google search to find the answer, but the keywords I was using always brought up other results.

Why use crossover office, when wine is working fine for me ? How is it better ?

It works out of the box and has various hacks/bugfixes winehq does not. If WineHQ works perfectly for you though, by all means carry on using it
