Resolution on external monitor went down after updating Fedora 24

Hi all,

I've recently installed Fedora 24 on my Thinkpad X230 (Intel Graphics). After an update a couple of days ago, the resolution of my secondary monitor went from 2560x1080 to 1920x1080. If I, however, switch to previous kernel, it'd be fine. Is there any way to fix it?

P.S. Last time I tried Fedora was version 13. This problem then occurred when Nvidia driver didn't catch up updating, However Intel's video driver should be in the kernel by default, so I don't see why it would crash.

Hi,
you can try running "xrandr" with both kernels and try to see if one recognizes the monitor differently. Also, you might be missing DRM kernel modules or so. You can also try to find out if the EDID data coming from the monitor is read out different by the kernels (don't know which program does that off the top of my head, sorry).

It may be using a generic video driver rather than the specific driver for your hardware. I would start by running lspci to see which video controller is in your computer. You'll then need to do some googling to find the drivers that match your controller.
