I've been using Fedora for quite a while now and am very happy with it.
I understand that repositories will never be as up to date as the latest releases of most software packages, but is there any way to request an update to a repository package?
The particular program I'm looking at is the non-linear video editor kdenlive. I strongly believe it is one of the most promising editors for fedora, as it has some high end features, but is still incredibly easy to use for low end features. The release on the project's website is now into 0.8, though the repository version is at 0.7.8, released some time ago.
I know I could install from source, but I much prefer being able to install from repositories as I think it keeps my system tidier and more secure!
Thanks for the response. Have double checked and the package actually comes from RPM Fusion. Will have a scout around their website for any info on how to update a package, but if anyone has any experience in doing this sort of thing any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I looked into things a little more, and it would appear that the hold up is due to one of the dependencies for the package, potentially breaking other packages, so they're waiting before that's fixed to update the video editor.
That all said, if there is little movement on the subject, then I will come back and take you up on your offer of packaging help, as I'm sure it's something that's worthwhile knowing anyway!
Requesting updates to Fedora Repositories
=====================================
You need to delete any files and source for non-linear video editor kdenliv. Also, directly try to install using Yum (repository). The software will automatically download via Web and it will install. Actually, i have tried to install many packages and got same difficulties. Uisng Yum, i got many success.
Thank you!
