Question Red Hat Graphical Boot

I've seen all sorts of screen shots of Red Hat's new graphical INIT. I recently upgraded from RH9 to FC2, and still get the normal color boot up. I boot into runlevel 5 and log in graphicaly, but can't boot with RHGB. What do I need to do to fix this?

What do you mean by normal color boot up? Don't you see the little computer with a monitor attached to it?

This happened when I upgraded my desktop as well... I think it is caused by upgrading rather than fresh install...

I upgraded my desktop from RH9 to FC1 and still had the standard text based loader...

Did a frsh install on my notebook over RH9 to FC1 and got the pretty little screen....

So that is my only assumption... that was the only upgrade i did... but all the other frsh installs i've done give me the graphical loader..

No. I see the same bootup sequence I've seen sence RH5.2 with the title for each process and a green [SUCESS] on the right side.
I think I can enable this by apending something to the Kernel.
Oh well...

I dual boot using grub, and needed to add "rhgb' to the kernel line in grub.conf to have the graphical boot run:

kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.5-1.358 ro root=LABEL=/ rhgb

I suppose there is also a way to add it to lilo or whatever it is that boots your system if it isn't grub.

Yes, just append rhgb to the kernel line in grub.conf (if you have not done so yet)

It should look like this:

title Fedora Core
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.5-1.i386 ro root=LABEL=/ rhgb quiet
initrd /initrd-2.6.5-1.i386.img

I thought you already done this as you were speaking about RHGB in your first post. Well If you did, then I can't help you here friend.

Peace!
