really, really newbie needs help, please help

Hi guys,

I am really, really newbie to linux. I'ven using windows for nearly 10 years and have been humbled byl linux. So please bear with me.

I have installed fedora 2.

I am having 4 problems and I was wondering if someone could be gracious to help me.

1. accessing share on my winxp computers.

I want to access files folders on my 2 winxp stations for mp3 and some files. How do I do this? I am logged in as user with KDE. Is there some graphical tool that I can use to do this? Please remember that I am newbie and I am kind wary ot commands.

2. getting MP3 to work.

I read some posts on this. I know there is a file to download to /usr folder but afterward(after reboot) I loose sound? Sound card detection no longer gives any sound.

3. How do I get sound to work consistantly?

i have

P4 3.0C
1Gb of ram
MSI 865GM2 board ICH5 sound
It has cmedia codec

When I first install fedora and on reboot it asks me to test sound and it works. but afterward it does not work anymore.I get no sound except when I am playing music cd.

4. broken login screen

I have msi 865gm2 with intel 865G chipset(on-board video). When first boot up and get into graphical greeting screen I get no characters on the screen. After I log in it's fine, but on the login screen there are no characters. Is this problem with linux and 865G chipset? I tried Mandrake 10 and it's the same.

Please help me guys. I really want to learn linux and I don't knwo anyone nearby who can help me. I know these questions might sound really dumb, but I am willing to learn. The fedora install works pretty well on 845 chipset system and nividia amd chipset with 2500+ barton, but I want the fedora to work on my 865G chipset system because it's the fastest system that I have.
