Really bad mouse problem, maybe X server
Hi.
I was running Fedora 6 64 bit for a while but decided to move to 32 bit because of incompatibilities (software, not hardware). However, it seems the X server on 32 bit dislikes me.
I noticed when the "first run configure" screen came up all the text was jumbled and broken, some only showing the top half of characters, the first letter of a sentence or just odd dashes where text was suposed to be. There were also a few input boxes that oddly "floated" where they were not suposed to be.
I ignored this figuring it was just an installer glitch and managed to put in all the info and restart (I turned off SELinux). When KDE booted up my mouse didn't work - this has happened before so I unpluged it and pluged it back in, it worked, or more it SEEMED to work, and I went to configuring it.
However, after about 3 min, something about the mouse changed, and it started "sticking" to the left side of the screen. I noticed moving it very slowly allowed me to move it, but when I went past a certain speed it would fly back to the left side.
After that, I noticed (they were there before the mouse stopped working, but I didn't pay attention) some odd visual errors: there was this odd jagged black line across the toolbar of firefox, some text was cut off like in the installer, text turning sky blue except for a few pixels and there was an odd blue pixel at the tip of the mouse cursor.
I thought there may have been a glitch on install, and since I just installed it, there was nothing to lose. I installed the system again with all defaults, and there was no problem on the first boot config, but the mouse still fails after about 3 min and I have noticed a few visual errors here too.
I have tried 2 mouses, one PS2 and one USB. I tired 3 USB ports and tired each mouse on it's own, but they both have the problem. The glitch is system-wide, too. If I unplug a mouse while it's having the problem and plug the other in the new one has it too.
An interesting thing I found was my USB mouse, that is more sensitive, seems to have a higher threshold for "sticking" than the PS2 mouse.
My video card is a GeForce 6600, my CPU is an AMD 64 X2 and my USB mouse is a razer copperhead, the other is some generic one that come with one of my computers.
