READ-ONLY disk

OK heres the problem.

I installed fedora (core 1) and dual booted it with xp...no problem...everything works fine.

So, i want to allow my fedora os to be able to read/write to ntfs. I installed the rpm from:

http://www.linux-ntfs.sourceforge.ne...tructions.html

But when i try to access that ntfs partition (the xp partition) it says i don't have permission. So, i log in as root and it then allows me to read the ntfs partition but not write to it...

So, i right click on the mounted partition and select properties but (even in root) it doesn't allow me to change the properties to write access... or even let other users read it.

I have tried doing the same in a terminal but it just says the disk is read only.

Any ideas?

At the moment I don't think its possible to write to ntfs using linux unless you compile a custom kernel (or recompile your distros) and enable the experimental write access. This is not recommended since its a feature thats still being heavily developed and may not work properly.

Shoot... ok well how about setting the read permissions for my other users. I can't get that to work either.

You need to change that in your /etc/fstab. There should be a line somewhere for your windows partition and an option that says "owner". I think that needs to be changed to "user".
