Is it a USB mouse?

EDIT: That was the worst question to be asked.
The title says that it was the PS/2 Mouse!

This will not be helpful at all but ps2 is quite visible in the subject.

Are you able to get through the install? If you are having trouble getting through the install because of the mouse problem, you can use the text install.

If you finished the install and the mouse still doesn't work, then you might need to mess with your X configuration. Someone else can tell you how to do that.

Silly qestion: Is it a 3 button mouse or a 2 button mouse?

On my RH EL installs the default is always 3 button mouse so I have to select 2 button o make it work. (The 3rd button is emulated by holding down both buttons at the same time in X.)

I'm experiencing the exact same problem: when installing (or booting into) FC3 my PS2 mouse is just not working. The problem can be solved, however, by unplugging both the mouse and my ps2 keyboard, and plugging them back in. Apparently its not that I'm using the wrong driver, because the driver functions correctly afterwards. My mouse is an MS Intellimouse 1.3A. I'm curious to hear whether replugging the mouse and keyboard also solves the problem in your case. Also, the replugging is not something you will want to do on the long run...

regards

Sorry for the stupidiest question i could ever ask!

Well, replugging the mouse shouldn't be necessary if you haven't fiddled with the back side of your computer case.

But if you have, it is worth giving a try, probably because the connector must have become loose.

I haven't fiddled with mine (at least, not recently) - in fact, I only tried it after having read it somewhere (after a lengthy search on the web) and it proved to work for me - however, I don't consider it to be a final solution. In fact, it's the main reason why I'm still using RH9.
By the way, are you suggesting that a hardware problem may be at the origin of my problem? If so, why only FC3 (I'm also running RH9, W98, W2K, XP).

i unpluged and pluged them back in a few times no luck it has 2 buttons and a scroll wheel that can be used as button but im thinking its 2 button. i booted into fail safe termminal and did the system-config-mouse changed it from 3 button to 2 button as a generic mouse and no luck is there a way to check drivers or find out why its not working in the terminal window?

Well, boxerboy do you still have windows on the computer?

Moreover, have you tried any other distro, that was detecting your mouse just fine?
Did you particularly fiddle with the back part of the CPU?
Was the mouse giving you any trouble before not working completely on Fedora Core?
Did the mouse work on Windows, before installing Drivers?
Or the software on the CD (for the mouse) only added some more functionality to the mouse?

Well, the I guess the previous mouse died unexpectedly, due to ageing.
