Programs in /usr/sbin not running

Hi

Just recently my programs in /usr/sbin have stopped running automatically. For example, normally at the shell i could type visudo to configure the sudoers file, but now i get the error:
Code:
bash: visudo: command not found
even though the file is still there. The programs still work if i go to the /usr/sbin directory and type them in like this: ./visudo, but this is a hassle since some important programs run from there. I was just wondering how I could get these running automatically again. Is there possibly a configuration file in /etc I should modify?

Thanks

Modify $HOME/.bash_profile and add /usr/sbin to your default path. That directory is in root's default path (see /etc/profile for confirmation), but it's not in an unprivileged account's default path.

The entry in your .bash_profile will look something like this.

PATH=$PATH:/usr/sbin
export PATH

Thanks, this fixed it, but it still doesn't work if I login as a normal user and use the su command to become root. Is this supposed to happen?

Use the command "su -" to become root and see if that helps.
