problem with trident driver and fedora core 3

I have installed fedora core 3 recently but there is a problem with my graphic-card that I didn't have with FC 1 or FC 2.
I have a integrated trident card.
The problem is that there is some kind of distortion, There are lines of different colors appearing mostly when and where something is happening for example when I move the mouse. I have tried the Fedora Core 1 driver on VIA-ARENA and replaced the trident driver but it's the same, but It seems a bit slow like its still the VESA driver(I recall it's slower)
hm strange.
Have there been any changes in the new Fedora Core 3 that have made this problem?
Also it's seems like the menu where I can compress and decompress gzip, zip and tar haven't been installed in KDE, if I remember right it came with FC 1 and 2(could be wrong) what package is it in?
