Problem with libglib-2.0.so.0 after update

Ladies and Gentlemen:
I have an FC7 box which I recently updated using [yum -y update]. After the update (to kernal Fedora 2.6.23.14-64.fc7) the system will crash in the boot sequence stating that libglib-2.0.so.0 is not found. Crash is a kernal panic and hang, I have to power-on sequence the machine to get it back.

The system will both boot and run properly with the previous image (before update). There is a libglib-2.0.so link in /usr/lib pointing at /lib/libglib-2.0.so.0.1200.13

I have tried freshening the rpm that contains libglib-2.0.so.0, no joy.
I have also tried placing a link called libglib-2.0.so.0 to the 1200.13 file, placing the link in /usr/lib give no joy as well.

Any thoughts other than upgrading to 8?

Cheers!

When you say previous image do you mean booting from the previous kernel? Are the kernel options the same for both kernels?

Shafty -
To my knowledge, there are no changes to the options to the kernels. And yes, by "previous image" I do mean the previous kernel. I am very appreciative of the yum update process not deleting the previous kernels.

This is the closest thing I found related to your problem but the issue in this link is related specifically to debian.
http://bugs.debian.org/458203
Can't imagine why the new kernel would change the order of some startup script in /etc/rc5.d/ which is what this bug describes.
