Question problem with kmplayer and kaffeine

nebody plz help me.. I am unable to play any vedio or audio file in kmplayer. I have chosen xine engine for kmplayer. When ever i start playing ne file . i m just getting the message at the bottom of kmplayer window "Ready" but nothing happens in the main window.
So, i changed the engine for kmplayerto "mplayer". At this time when i play ne file i m getting the message "player mplayer buffering" and again nothing happens in the main window.
Similar things are hapeeinig with kaffeine. Upon choosing xine engine and playing ne file i m getting the message at the left most corner of the window "xine initid" and it stop responding.
So, wht is the possible solution to make them work. Plz someone help me soon.

Does mplayer work correctly on its own?
Normally kmplayer works (with mplayer) if the correct codecs are available, but doesn't give an error message when they are not!

Yaa , mplayer is woking fine .. but not the kmplayer .
If i choose engine for kmplayer as mplayer , it only give the message
that mplayer is buffering without ne display.
Similar happens with xine engine choice.

There should be a hidden folder in your home directory for .mplayer or .kmplayer which contains a file for setting the GUI defaults. I don't know your distro so you'll have to find it yourself. Play with that a bit. Make sure that you match the video and audio drivers to those used by the command line version of mplayer.
